About

Blackwood Rise is a private standalone villa set deep in the bush at Sun-Kissed Forest Garden in Emerald. Built for two, the villa offers a queen bedroom with its own fireplace and ensuite, a full kitchen, and a living space that looks directly into the surrounding forest. Five minutes from Emerald village, 30 minutes from the Yarra Valley, and an hour from the city. A proper weekend away without compromise.

Good to know

Blackwood Rise sits at the far end of the property, completely detached from the other villas, with nothing between it and the treeline. The building is solid bluestone, the interiors are quietly considered, and the fireplace in the bedroom is the kind of detail that makes you rebook before you have even checked out. The villa is designed for two. The queen bedroom has a fireplace and an ensuite bathroom - both done properly - and the full kitchen means you can eat well without leaving the property. The living space is open and calm, with the bush sitting close outside the windows at every hour. There is a quality specific to evenings in a firelit room when the forest is dark and quiet outside. Blackwood Rise is built around that quality. Kangaroos come into the yard at dusk. The birds are extraordinary in the morning. The four surrounding acres are there whenever you want them. Wildlife is abundant around the property. Guests often see kangaroos grazing in the yard, along with cockatoos, rainbow lorikeets, and rosella parrots among the foliage. You can enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest from the villa's surroundings or head out for a peaceful walk through the trees. Though secluded in the forest, the villa is only a 5-minute drive from the village of Emerald. Here, you’ll find a variety of restaurants, cafes, and bars for dining out, as well as local attractions like the historic Puffing Billy Railway, perfect for a scenic train ride through the hills. Emerald village offers everything you need for a relaxed stay while keeping you close to conveniences. The villa is an entirely standalone building, at the very end of a property with 4 other villas. It is completely separate so you will have total privacy during your stay. Internet and Wildlife Disclaimer: Our villas are nestled in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges, surrounded by forest and rich natural beauty. With this comes the presence of local wildlife, which is a normal part of the environment. We conduct regular monthly pest control to maintain high standards of cleanliness and comfort, but occasional sightings or sounds of wildlife may still occur. We kindly ask for your understanding, as this is part of the experience of staying in a forest setting. Similarly, in rare cases, severe weather can temporarily impact internet services due to issues with local infrastructure beyond our control. Should this occur, rest assured that restoration is handled urgently by the relevant providers. Please note that refunds will not be provided for either of these situations. Thank you for your understanding and for embracing the natural experience of the Dandenong Ranges.

Other Details to Note

Emerald village is five minutes by car. The main street has good coffee, a reliable pub, and restaurants that punch above what you would expect from a small hill town. The Puffing Billy Railway runs through Emerald and is one of the more pleasurable ways to spend a morning in the Ranges regardless of the season. The Yarra Valley is approximately 30 minutes. Healesville alone offers Yering Station, Rochford, Giant Steps, and the Healesville Sanctuary for those who want a different kind of afternoon. The cellar doors are open most days and the landscape along the valley floor in autumn is worth the drive on its own terms.

Absolutely perfect. The host is a great man and a really caring person, very responsive and quick to help. The place itself is exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing. It, really allowed me to reconnect with myself and nature after a busy time in the city. Beautiful location. The building is quite elegantly designed. It's simple, but I truly do feel sun-kissed. If you're looking for a place to reconnect with yourself, to relax in nature, and to refresh in the forest, this is a place for you. Just a nice, quiet, beautiful spot with a great host. Thank you very much. Love and Gratitude..

We absolutely adored our stay in the cabin. All amenities as described and the place had a lovely calming feel to it. The bed is extremely soft and comfortable and with the combined heating and fireplace, we were able to stay cosy for our entire stay. If your someone that relies on/uses the internet regularly, you may struggle as the connection is a little slow. This didn't bother us at all as we wanted time to disconnect. Overall I'd absolutely recommend staying here if you're after a peaceful getaway. The cabin is located so that you're hidden away from main roads but also a quick drive into town if you need anything.
